Dr T Paul Hyde

Profile

Paul Hyde obtained his degree of Batchelor of Dental Surgery (BChD) from the University of Leeds in 1981. His Diploma and then Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England followed in 1992 and 1993.  His PhD in Clinical Prosthodontics from the University of Leeds was completed in 2011.

His early career was in general dental practice, buying his practice in 1985.  During this time he became the Secretary of his Local Dental Committee, Chairman of Leeds and District British Dental Association and a Postgraduate Dental Tutor for Calderdale.  In 1993 after a period as a part time teacher in oral surgery in Leeds, he sold his practice and took uphis first full time lectureship in oral surgery at Manchester Dental Hospital.  In 1995 he changed subjects to teach in restorative dentistry and in 2000 he moved to the University of Leeds School of Dentistry.

After his PhD, Paul has turned his interest to clinical research in dentistry with a particular emphasis on clinical trials.  Paul has presented his research at national and international conferences and accepts invitations to speak. He has obtained and participated in a number of grants to facilitate his research interests from: Dunhill Medical Trust (2006-2009) and (2018-20), the NIHR (2010-2013), and from commerce 2017, 2017 and 2018.  He reviews research papers for international journals and has reviewed grant applications for the NIHR.  He continues to publish to add to his clinical research papers.
