Profile
I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, working in the STARlab with Prof. Daryl O’Connor, Prof Mark Conner and Prof Katie Robb (University of Glasgow). We are working on a Cancer Research UK funded project, to investigate the effectiveness of three behaviour change interventions in improving the uptake of bowel cancer screening in the UK.
Prior to joining the University of Leeds, I completed my PhD at Cardiff University in the Behavioural Genetics Group with Dr William Davies, Dr Trevor Humby and Prof. Andrew Thompson. My thesis focused on exploring psychological and physiological issues associated with the rare genetic skin disorder, X-linked ichthyosis.
I am currently a member of the BPS Early Career Reviewer Mentoring Programme for the British Journal of Health Psychology. I was previously section lead within BPS Psychology Postgraduate Affairs Group (PsyPAG) for the Division of Academics, Researchers and Teachers of Psychology (DART-P), and in 2022 I was awarded the BPS ‘Rising Researcher’ Award for outstanding PhD work and contributions to the research field.
In 2022, I won the award for PGR Graduate Tutor of the Year at the Cardiff University Enriching Student Life Awards, as well as being shiortlisted in 2021.

Research interests
Within the field of Health Psychology, I have strong research interests in behaviour change and decision making, as well as transaltional research in a healthcare setting. I am interested in the impact of psychological interentions on health outcome and health behaviours. I am a confident mixed-methods researcher, with continuing interest in co-production and public engagement.
I am experienced in research dissemination and presentation, with nine first-author papers during my PhD, a further three collaborative journal articles, and >15 presentations, including a number of international conferences. In 2024, I also won the Cardiff institutional round of ThreeMinuteThesis (3MT).
Other researchy interests include womens health and menstruation across the lifespan. Outside of my role as Research Fellow, I often deliver workshops to women’s sports teams about menstrual health and wellbeing.

Student education
Prior to joining the University of Leeds, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Cardif University from 2020-2024, across both the undergraduate and postgraduate Psychology programmes. I have experience of delivering guest seminars for a number of other instititions, 1-1 mentoring for students in Post-16 and Higher Education, and supervision of internships and dissertation students.
