My personal tutor has really encouraged and helped me a lot with my essays and exams. She gave me a lot of instructions on how to write my essay as well as feedback afterwards which helped me a lot with my confidence.
The University of Leeds is a Russel Group University and one of the best universities in the UK can provide me with excellent teaching and academic resources and has allowed me to develop both academically and personally. The Psychology department here also provides all kinds of research opportunities and I believe that will help me tremendously with my future study and career.
I choose to study Psychology because I was fascinated by how the human mind works. I really liked reading Psychology books and I was very intrigued by all kinds of theories and experiments that tried to explain people’s thought processes, emotions and behaviours. I also wanted to learn more about mental health issues and diseases and potentially be able to help other people someday.
I really enjoyed the Social Psychology module in the first semester. For this module, we were required to write an essay. Having never written an essay before I was really nervous about how to complete this assignment. However, with the help of my personal tutor, I managed to do quite well for it. I also learned a lot about how to find literature and journal article resources as well as critically review them and use them to support my ideas in the essay.
The Psychology at Leeds module introduced us to various research that the Psychology department is involved in, from appetite research to successful ageing etc. It showed me different types of projects that I can participate in my final year of studying and how I can put what I have learned into real research.

I would love to work in research areas or as a clinical psychologist in the future. The research skills and modules surrounding neuroscience and cognitive psychology that I am learning will absolutely give me a strong foundation in those areas. The School of Psychology also provides us with information about all kinds of volunteering and internship opportunities that will help me familiarise myself with the industry and different career paths, after this degree, I am planning on continuing my study for a Masters Degree and maybe a PhD in Psychology.
I would definitely recommend coming here to study at the University of Leeds. I think this is a wonderful place to learn about a different culture, develop yourself, and also make friends and enjoy life in the process.
I think Leeds is a lovely city. I can normally find everything that I need is in walking distance. It is a big city but also has amazing countryside views nearby. As an international student who likes to travel, places like York and Sheffield are all quite nearby and definitely worth a visit.
