Megan Cort
- Course: Nursing (Adult) BSc
Why did you choose the School of Healthcare at the University of Leeds?
I chose the University of Leeds due to where it was ranked for Nursing in the country, the distance it was from home, and the warm welcome I experienced on my open day and interview. I loved the campus – especially Baines Wing, and how close everything was to each other.
Why did you choose your course?
I have always been interested in healthcare, and I narrowed down my options through university open days and listening to what the courses entailed. Nursing appealed to me the most as I realised day-to-day caring for the patient was what interested me the most.
What support have the tutors and other staff given you?
I have been academically supported by my personal tutor, and throughout my assignments have been given feedback from lecturers, which has been very helpful. I have also been supported through a difficult experience where I needed extra time for my assignment and time out from lectures, which made me feel more at ease. They provided information for other support services in case I needed them, and my personal tutor has kept in contact to ensure I’m coping okay.
What do you think of Leeds and Yorkshire?
I absolutely love Leeds, it has a lovely balance of everything – from nightlife, shopping, going out to eat, and bars. Lovely green spaces like the Yorkshire Dales are also easily accessible.
