Cecile J ones dental technologies Btec student case study

Cecile Jones

I chose to study dental technology at Leeds as I wanted to further pursue a career in dentistry having worked as a Dental Nurse previously.

The course at Leeds is both hands-on and academically challenging, I enjoy the process of creating dental appliances knowing that it will have a positive impact on a patient’s life.

As part of my course I spend one day a week at a private implant laboratory that specialises in crown and bridge work. This placement offers me a chance to apply what I have learnt on the course and also experience first-hand experience of how a commercial laboratory operates. All of which is a great way to prepare me for employment when I graduate.

The facilities at the School of Dentistry offers practical training to the whole dental team and where possible we take classes with other dental students. This allows us to see the important role dental technicians play in the complete dental service for patients.
