Profile

Based in Professor Eva Morris' Cancer Epidemiology Group, I support the delivery of the programme across multiple clinical work streams. The YCR Bowel Cancer Improvement Programme utilises linked datasets to develop novel methodologies to identify variation in bowel cancer outcomes across Yorkshire. Working closely with the bowel cancer Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs), the programme identifies weaknesses or significant variation and develops appropriate educational interventions. I am the first point of contact for clinical teams with data acquisition queries, with particular reference to patient reported outcomes and biological samples. \n I graduated from Queen Margaret University College Edinburgh in 2002 with a Degree in Dietetics. From 2002 until 2017 I practised as an accredited State Registered Dietitian within the NHS, initially specialising in the application of clinical nutrition to the Adult Surgical and Critical Care teams in the West of Scotland. In 2008 I began working as a Highly Specialist Paediatric Critical Care Dietitian in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow whereby I led and developed the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit dietetic service. I have expertise in the provision of nutritional support to upper and lower GI surgical patients pre, post and peri-operatively as well as in critically ill adult and paediatric patients.CRC, colorectal cancer, YCRJackie Mara
