Profile
I’m a data analyst with expertise in statistical programming and analysis, data visualisation, and research design. I have experience leading complex research projects in healthcare settings and am active in academia, routinely presenting, publishing, and peer reviewing.
My PhD work assessed the prevalence, detectability, and impact of pre-operative recreational substance use on post-operative outcomes – and potential strategies to help patients mitigate harm.
Post-PhD I was a research fellow at the Bradford Institute for Health Research, leading a multi-hospital retrospective study assessing associations between emergency doctor decision-making, patient health outcomes, and healthcare resource use. I also provided statistical support for projects in the field of patient safety, including an MRC-funded project with clinical and commercial partners developing a device to prevent nasogastric tube-related ‘never events’.
I joined the Institute of Rheumatic & Musculoskeletal Medicine in April 2022. Here I provided statistical support and analysis for several large research projects within the institute of rheumatic and musculoskeletal medicine. This included the analysis of data from primary research projects and secondary data analysis. My personal projects primarily focused on the analysis of machine-learning derived osteoarthritis biomarkers from imaging data, primarily involving hierarchal (multilevel) frequentist and Bayesian generalised (non-)linear modelling.
I am currently a senior data analyst for one of six NIHR Patient Safety Research Collaboration (PSRC) centres. I am hosted primarily within the ‘rethinking safety intelligence for improvement’ theme where I have a senior role in developing, designing and delivering projects that use linked datasets to address patient safety research questions with a particular focus on safety inequity in health and social care services. I also provide backend development work for the Connected Bradford platform; a massive interlinked data warehouse characterising the whole population of Bradford, West Yorkshire.
