Research interests
I have developed international guidelines based tool to be used in trials for opportunistic screening and management for diabetes, hypertension or cardiovascular disease at first point of contact for patients in primary care or secondary care in developing countries (including Nepal, Uganda, Pakistan, Tanzania, Bangladesh and China).
This is going to have a major impact on identifying subjects at risk of cardiovascular disease early and targeting them for lifestyle education. Department for International Development. My main interest is in screening for insulin resistance based on differences in risk profile of Europeans and non-Europeans (especially South Asians) and appropriate tailored management of diabetes and cardiovascular disease in South Asians.
