Dr Samuel Relton

Profile

Sam has a BSc and PhD in mathematics from the University of Manchester. Before joining Leeds he specialised in algorithm design and implementation. The algorithms he worked on underpin many common tasks in scientific computing and data science.

Research interests

Sam is involved in the procurement, management, and analysis of large datasets arising from a number of healthcare sources. This analysis involves both primary and secondary healthcare data and Sam is particularly keen on applying machine learning techniques, utilizing his background in numerical analysis and high-performance computing.

Student education

I plan and run various teaching sessions as part of modules for students both in MBCHB and MSc Health Informatics courses. These primarily focus on statistics, machine learning, and other topics related to data acquisition, handling, and analysis.
