Angeliki Zacharaki-Makri

I started my career in healthcare in 2003 after completing my Midwifery training in Athens, Greece. Soon after I moved to London to get work experience and I completed the MSc in Midwifery in 2006 in Middlesex University.

I have worked as a midwife in different parts of the world (Greece, Finland, UK, UAE) and have gained clinical experience in all aspects of maternity care. I have always enjoyed working with students as a clinical mentor and I moved into higher educaton in 2018. I became a Lecturer in Midwifery in 2020.

Research interests

My research interest is in the management of low risk birth and complex issues that influence the process. This is reflected on the research project I took during my MSc studies, where I examined the management of early labour by midwives in a low risk setting.

I have a special interest in health inequalities and I have worked with refugees in Athens in 2016.
