Pre-registration pharmacist training

A group of pre registration pharmacists sat around talking

All Yorkshire and the Humber secondary care pre-registration pharmacist trainees take part in a comprehensive regional training programme such as the programme provided by the University of Leeds. This gives trainees the opportunity to network and support one another.

Regional study days complement work-based training and cover areas of the pre-registration performance standards and the registration assessment framework that are difficult to cover within the hospital training bases.

All educators are drawn from a pool of experts and are either pharmacists or other healthcare specialists. Study days consist of interactive sessions, including small group work and hands-on practical sessions. The programme includes clinical skills, quality improvement project planning, first aid, exam preparation and a full length practice examination assessment.

North School of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation

The multidisciplinary North School of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation, Health Education England (HEE) - working across the North of England - was launched in April 2018.

The School will respond to the education and training needs around medicines for a wide range of staff, and develop medicines optimisation skills within the wider workforce who prescribe, dispense or administer medicines.

We will be working alongside the School of Medicines Optimisation to provide high quality training within the region for secondary care pre-registration pharmacists.
