Course overview

This workshop focuses on student support issues – how to recognise and manage difficulties a student may face

This is an interactive workshop and will explore possible ways to deal with student-related challenges on placements and on campus, including medical, nursing and physician associates.

Common issues and variations in practice shall be discussed.

By the end of this session participants will be better able to:

· Compare the different conceptualizations of Student Support as utilized in Undergraduate Medical Education.

· Apply different approaches when providing developmental support to students in a medical/healthcare setting

· Identify the common challenges that students face and to be able to implement an appropriate and safe approach to address these.

This course is free to attend and of interest to those wishing to develop teaching skills, especially in the healthcare environment and teaching our students. It is of particular interest

to those with pastoral roles, such as Mentors, Personal Tutors, within our curricula – in clinical environments and on campus.
