Research interests

My research interests include the treatment of oral plaque biofilms using PDT, biofilm structure, molecular and cellular responses to PDT and tissue engineering. I have received funding from such sources as BBSRC and Regener8.

More recently, my research interests have broadened to include Dental Education research, focussing particularly on the recruitment of students using effective admissions criteria and processes.

I have a particular interest in commercialisation of research and in 2009 was awarded a Yorkshire Enterprise Fellowship. My involvement in the development of new tissue engineering strategies has also led to the publication of a patent in collaboration with external partners in industry and academia.

As well as publishing in peer-reviewed journals, I also frequently act as a reviewer for several international scientific publications.
