I graduated with a BChD in 1999 and following clinical positions within the NHS, I joined the University of Leeds in 2002 and I was appointed Lecturer in Oral Surgery in 2005 and Associate Professor in 2019 . I completed the MFDS examination with the Royal College of Surgeons England in 2003 and I am now a member of RCS Edinburgh. During the same year I studied for the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and I joined the Higher Education Academy. I undertook the Medical Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis in 2004 and was awarded 'distinction' in this qualification.
I work within the Acute Dental Care, Oral Surgery and Sedation departments within the Leeds Dental Institute and I treat and supervise treatment for patients within these departments. I work with undergraduates, postgraduates and Specialty Trainees, providing them with supervision and clinical education. My areas of clinical interest are Oral Surgery, conscious sedation, local anaesthesia, management of dental phobia and acute dental conditions.
I am a dental educator which is my primary focus. I am regularly invited to deliver educational activity to postgraduates across the UK.
